Yes, that’s right. Transylvania Shop & Coffee have again out done themselves this Halloween with the decorations, bringing a taste of Transylvania to Victoria Road. Here at Greater Govanhill it’s gotten us feeling extra spooky this October!

🏆 Shgufta Anwar who heads local group, Women on Wheels Hub, wins Visionary Champion award. As part of Cycling Scotland’s 2023 Cycling Champion of The Year Awards, Women on Wheel’s Shgufta Anwar was recognised for her significant contribution to cycling over the last year, helping women and young girls brave the bike for the first time, to reap the mental and physical health benefits of cycling. She was named Visionary Champion of The Year for her efforts. 🏆
📖 The Hidden Gardens release special 20th anniversary zine with Glasgow Zine Library. On October 25 The Hidden Gardens let their special anniversary zine into the world to celebrate 20 years of life! The zine includes some colourful pages with illustrations, memories of from the Gardens, poetry, pictures, and personal statements in ode to the community renewal project. Copies of the zine are still available in the Glasgow Zine Library. More information about the Hidden Garden’s anniversary zine is available on their website here. 📖
🎺Big Noise visited by culture minister Christina McKelvie after 10 year anniversary. Christina McKelvie met with Big Noise this week to sit in on their after school club with the young musicians. 🐟The team behind popular Southside food spot Sinclair’s to reopen after shock closure. Andy Haughey and Kenny Harkin, the duo behind Sinclair’s, have ananounced their new venture. Pisces is said to open it’s doors in the Battlefield area this November. In the meantime the pair are looking for staff for both the kitchen and front of house. 🔦A video has been shared on Twitter with the words ‘ceasefire’ lit up on the side of a tenement building by Queen’s Park station. 🔦
🎆Glasgow City Council call for caution this year ahead of bonfire night. The council have shared their list of do’s and don’ts in time for bonfire night, a notoriously busy night for emergency services. They are also asking people to report the illegal use of fireworks in their area.🎆

Join them for a demonstration today and a multicultural ceilidh this evening. 💃


👻TONIGHT: Square Park Coffee welcome trick-or-treaters this Halloween. Square Park Coffee have taken to social media to let people know that if they're out and about with their “ghosties and ghoulies” on Halloween, they can stop by Square Park “for a dip in the cauldron and a drop of witches brew.”. 👻
✍️The Material Mill: Open comedy writing group. The Humour Mill Glasgow are returning to Bees Knees Café this November with their open comedy writing sessions on 14 November, from 6pm onwards. Tickets and event details here. ✍️
🧸 Parents and Kids for Palestine: Teddy bear protest. Parents and children are expected to gather, with their teddy bears, in George Square tomorrow for a vigil in solidarity with the parents and children who are suffering in Palestine. 🧸
