On Tuesday we headed to the West End to co-host an event at the Glasgow School of Health and Wellbeing on our Mind The Health Gap project.
It was a chance to reflect on the work we had done in collaboration with The Ferret and to bring together people with different experiences for a rich discussion on health inequalities and the solutions to them.

Greater Govanhill is looking for a part-time Facilities Officer to take care of our The Community Newsroom. The job is advertised at £12 an hour, 25 hours per week for 22 weeks. Applicants need to be unemployed and not in education, have a Glasgow postcode, have barriers to employment (students are not eligible). More info here.

🏆The finalists for the 12th British Journalism Awards have been announced revealing a few familiar faces. Karin Goodwin was nominated for a podcast on the Sheku Bayoh inquiry. Both Rhiannon Davies and Julianna De Penha were nominated for the Georgina Henry award. The Scottish Beacon project developed by the Greater Gvoanhill teamwas also shortlised in the ‘Innovation of the Year’ category. The winners will be announced on December 14. 🏆

The article was written by Natalie Whittle, founder of the much-missed Outwith Books and former director of Greater Govanhill. 🎆Glasgow City Council are asking people to report the usage of illegal fireworks in Govanhill ahead of bonfire night.They are encouraging people to stay safe and have fun in their communities, whilst reporting any instances of antisocial behaviour to the police. The council are asking people not to leave wood or bulk piles of junk. More information is available on Govanhill Housing Association’s Facebook page. 🎆
🧑🏫 Sistema Scotland post part-time musician/teaching roles in Govanhill for Big Noise programme. Big Noise is a music education programme for social change. Sistema Scotland, the group behind Big Noise, have posted two part-time positions for the programme operating out of Govanhill. Congratulations to Merry-go-round in Strathbungo who won the Environment award at Social Enterprise Scotland in Holyrood last night. Based on Nithsdale Road, they sell second hand baby/childrenswear and run classes and workshops for families.

A Witty and Enchanting One-Woman Opera: Skunk Without K is Sun at Tramway

Al-Khair Fundraiser
Al-Khair Foundation are holding an emergency fundraiser for areas affected by disasters, including Palestine, with a live talk from disaster areas worldwide.
Public Meeting at The Ark
A public meeting is being held by the Gaza Genocide Emergency Committee to organise and discuss what actions can be taken to support those in Gaza.
Palestine Protest
Protest in solidarity with Palestinians, taking place in Glasgow. The event is a space to show support and raise awareness of what is happening in Palestine.
Film Screening of Freedom to Run
A film screening of Freedom to Run and a fundraiser for medical aid for Palestinians. ‘Freedom to Run’ follows two groups of runners, one from Right to Movement in Palestine, and one from Scotland. The two groups of runners support each other as they run both the Palestine and Edinburgh Marathons and on this journey the runners discover they are not so different, but they live very different lives.
La Cheeta Fundraiser
La Cheeta is hosting a club night to raise funds for the Palestinian Aid Charity.

Decolonise Fest
Decolonise Fest is an annual London-based, volunteer-run, non-profit DIY punk festival collectively organised by and for punx of colour. Their collective is made up of activists, militant community organisers, musicians, and artists who came together to hold their first festival in 2017. This year Decolonise is coming to Glasgow with Decolonise On Tour (funded by PRS), bringing some of their favourite Scottish punx of colour on stage at Mono.
