Can we ask for your help?
No news is bad news. Join the 200 people who keep Greater Govanhill going.
Hello,
This week is Indie News Week, a celebration of independent journalism and the role it plays in bringing communities together, amplifying overlooked voices, and helping people better understand the places they call home.
For the past six years, that’s what we’ve tried to do at Greater Govanhill.
Every month, more than 12,000 people visit our website. Over 2,000 people receive this newsletter. Around 15,000 people read each issue of our free quarterly magazine.
But just 200 people currently support Greater Govanhill financially through membership.
First, a huge thank you to those 200 members. Your support helps make everything we do possible. From commissioning local writers, photographers and illustrators, to printing the magazine, hosting events, and creating opportunities for people to tell their own stories – you’ve helped build something special.
This Indie News Week, we’re setting ourselves a simple challenge:
Can we grow our membership community from 200 people to 300?
If just 100 more of you chose to support Greater Govanhill with a few pounds each month, it would make a huge difference to the long-term sustainability of the magazine and help ensure independent community journalism continues to thrive in Govanhill.
We’re funded through a mix of ethical advertising, grants and reader support. But memberships give us something especially valuable: independence, stability and the ability to plan for the future.
If Greater Govanhill has ever helped you discover something new about your neighbourhood, attend an event, find an opportunity, meet someone interesting, or see your community differently, we’d love you to consider becoming a member today.
Join the 200 people already supporting Greater Govanhill and help us reach 300.
Thank you for reading, supporting and being part of our community.
